Peter

We are a couple from Austria and travelling has always been our great passion, whether it is 3 months in Mexico, a 10-day hiking tour through the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia or smaller road trips through Europe, we love to see the world and get to know the people, cultures and typical food.

2017

In 2017, we discovered sailing and signed up for a sailing course in Lanzarote. During our semester break from university, we learned a lot within 3 weeks, as we had never been on board a sailing boat before. We immediately made friends in the sailing community through our sailing instructors and Peter already said at the time:

"We'll sail across the Atlantic one day."

2022

Although he wasn’t serious about it (or was he?) and we only sailed little for the first few years, the idea started to mature more and more from 2020 onwards. We chartered a lot in the Mediterranean, but also sailed in the Baltic Sea and the Atlantic, which allowed us to gain a lot of experience. We then bought our own boat - our Vaquita, a Najad 331 - in 2022. Since then, we have learned a lot as owners.

Casting off the lines

2024

In September 2024 we cast off the lines for a longer period of time and since then we can call our Vaquita our floating home. We have crossed the Med and the Atlantic since and we will see where our journey takes us. You can follow our adventures here on our liveaboard sailing blog and on Social Media.
